isoray hires new vp of business development in charge of sales

RICHLAND, Washington – IsoRay Inc. (AMEX: ISR) a medical isotope company focusing on the treatment of prostate and other malignant disease through use of its proprietary radioisotope technology, today announced that its operating subsidiary has hired Anthony G. Pasqualone as Vice President of Business Development in charge of Sales.

IsoRay Chairman and CEO Dwight Babcock said that since he was appointed, the company has been actively searching for a senior level sales manager with industry experience.

"We are fortunate to have the opportunity to hire Tony and believe he has the background and relationships to spearhead our strategy to improve sales," said Babcock.

Pasqualone has been involved in marketing brachytherapy extensively since 1989 when brachytherapy started to gain attention as a viable treatment option for prostate cancer.

He was National Sales Manager at Theragenics Corporation in 1989 where he helped develop market acceptance of Pd-103.  In addition, in 1995 he brought the first stranded product to market while working with the team at Oncura (Amersham Corporation).

More recently, he was a principal and served as Vice President of Sales at SourceTech Medical which developed and introduced SeedLink to the brachytherapy market in 2003. This company was later purchased by Bard Urology, where he was a Vice President of Strategic Markets for several years.

He is an alumnus of Fordham University with a BS in Science, and is very active within support groups for men with prostate cancer. His background is in radiation oncology, where he has worked with GPO and IDN organizations, and he is recognized nationally for starting more than 400 centers in the US for prostate brachytherapy. He is married with two children and resides in Duluth, GA, where he continues to be an activist for improving quality of life for cancer patients and prostate cancer research.

Proxcelan (Cesium-131) is available at 99 medical centers and clinics across the United States and is a proprietary product of IsoRay Medical, a wholly-owned subsidiary of a public company, IsoRay, Inc. (“IsoRay”) (AMEX Symbol: ISR), based in Richland, WA.

About IsoRay
IsoRay, Inc., through its subsidiary, IsoRay Medical, Inc., is the sole producer of the Proxcelan Cesium-131 brachytherapy seeds, used to treat prostate and other cancers. Proxcelan seeds offer a significantly shorter half-life than the two other isotopes commonly used for brachytherapy, which results in a substantially faster delivery of therapeutic radiation, lower probability of cancer cell survival and reduction of the longevity of common brachytherapy side effects. Proxcelan offers advantages over other isotopes used in seed brachytherapy. It delivers its therapeutic radiation faster than other isotope seeds-- Palladium-103 and Iodine-125--and at a reduced risk to patients when compared to surgery.  Due to its unique characteristics, Proxcelan patients receive a higher initial dosage of radiation that attacks and kills cancer cells quickly. Its short half-life means that radiation leaves the body sooner than Iodine-125 and Palladium-103. (a) (b). IsoRay is based in Richland, Washington.
