IsoRay Medical™, Inc. names Jonathan R. Hunt corporate controller; company announces 44 sites now offering Cesium-131 prostate cancer treatment option
RICHLAND, WA--IsoRay Medical™, Inc. (ISRY.OB), the world’s only manufacturer and distributor of Cesium-131 used in the treatment of prostate cancer and other malignant diseases, has named Jonathan R. Hunt corporate controller.
Hunt brings extensive background as a senior finance manager to the position, including SEC experience and financial reporting, and expertise in accounting and operational analysis. He was most recently with Hypercom Corporation, a global provider of electronic payments solutions and manufacturer of credit card terminals. His finance background also includes positions with Circle K Corporation, Arthur International and PriceWaterhouseCoopers L.L.P.
“John has the blend of experience to support IsoRay’s continued growth and expansion,” said IsoRay’s Chairman and CEO Roger Girard. “He is a proven team player who will participate in our strategic planning and forecasting.”
A Certified Public Accountant, Hunt has a Masters of Accountancy and Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University.
Girard announced that during the past six weeks eight new medical centers offering the Cesium-131 treatment option have been added, bringing the total to 44.
“The coast-to-coast expansion reflects the continued positive response from physicians,” said Girard. “They are embracing Cesium-131’s rapid delivery of therapeutic radiation coupled with fewer side effects for the patient. The medical community recognizes we are giving patients a powerful new tool for fighting prostate cancer.”
New sites have been added in the New York City metro area, California, Florida and other locations, joining a list of notable medical centers that includes the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center at Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center in Palm Springs, the Duke University Health System and New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The Cesium-131 isotope is currently being used in brachytherapy treatment for prostate cancer, which is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men in the U.S. Other forms of delivery devices for the proprietary isotope are planned, including protocols for both the lung and pancreas.
About IsoRay
IsoRay, Inc., through its subsidiary, IsoRay Medical™, Inc., is the sole producer of the Cesium-131 brachytherapy seed, used to treat prostate and other cancers. The Cesium-131 seed offers a significantly shorter half-life than the two other isotopes commonly used for brachytherapy, which results in a substantially faster delivery of therapeutic radiation, lower probability of cancer cell survival, and reduction of the longevity of side effects. IsoRay is based in Richland, Washington. More information is available about IsoRay at www.isoray.com.
