We are very pleased to have his clinical expertise and we welcome and value his advice and counsel," said Roger Girard, chairman and CEO of IsoRay Medical™ Inc.
"My clinical experience with Cesium-131 has convinced me this radioisotope offers significant benefits for prostate cancer patients over Iodine and Palladium," said Dr Kurtzman. "I believe it will fast become the isotope of choice for seed brachytherapy because the high energy and short half-life. The easily achieved homogeneous dose distribution coupled with the quick resolution of the side effects normally associated with brachytherapy makes Cesium-131 a very attractive option for patients choosing seed brachytherapy for their prostate cancer treatment."
Dr. Kurtzman is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his Residency in Radiation Oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
